Implantable Cardiac Defibrillator (ICD)
Implantable Cardiac Defibrillators (ICDs) are used to treat heart conditions related to tachycardia where the patient's heart is beating rapidly. When the system detects a rapid heart beat, it “shocks” the heart back into a normal rhythm. Lake Region offers a comprehensive suite of capabilities to design, develop and manufacture components and assemblies for ICD leads, implantable pulse generators (IPGs) and ancillary support devices used during implantation procedures. Lead Delivery Systems
A lead delivery system is used to implant a lead at the desired location within a patient's heart. It usually consists of a guidewire, guide catheter, deflectable catheter and stylet, or a combination of these elements. Proper placement is critical to the effectiveness of electrical therapy. Headers are used to contain electrical receptacles for pulse generation leads and are attached to the pulse generator—usually made of polyurethane or epoxy. They are also used to make the connection between the implantable device circuitry and the implanted lead.
